Jerry Broadfield is a cop who has been charged with extortion. His former buddies in the NYPD would like to see him dead. And when a dead hooker turns up in his apartment he is saddled with a murder rap as well. Broadfield screams "frame-up" and nobody believes him except Matthew Scudder, an ex-policeman-turned-private-investigator.
